My dear brothers and sisters in Christ!
A new week with Jesus has begun! And as I was saying on Sunday, our call is to live this week demonstrating that we know Him.
Working with Campus Crusade some time ago, I came across an article about behavior. It spoke about the determining factors for the behavior of a person – the values of that person. And the determining factors in establishing those values were the beliefs of that person. And the beliefs were based on the relationships of that person, especially the one with God.
In other words, the one that has a relationship with God has in him the “mind of God” which determines the values of that person, which will have a radical impact on the behavior of the person!
Sometimes we just try to change the behavior – without thinking about what lies beneath the surface… It seems simpler that way: you just give a set of behavior rules (read laws!) and everyone is measured based on those rules. But on long term, a behavior changed because the external pressure will not lead to a really changed life for an individual, but will result at best in having some really good actors amongst us…
Therefore my prayer is not necessarily that we all behave “Christianly” this week, but that all of us live lives offered as sacrifices to Him, lives transformed through the renewal of our minds. A renewed mind and a body committed to God will surely result in a behavior that is pleasant to our graceful God!
